National Iranian Copper Industries Company’s mineral output surges

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 3. Mineral output of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) increased by 20.4 percent, during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Trend reports.

As indicated in the NICICO data, in 3 months, the company's total mineral output amounted to 63.5 million tons, while in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 52.7 million tons.

The most volume of the minerals were extracted from the Sarchesmeh copper mine in Iran’s Kerman Province in the south-east of the country.

Thus, a total of 32.4 million tons of minerals were extracted from Sarchesmeh copper mine mine in 3 months. This is an increase of 40 percent compared to 23.2 million tons in the same period last year.

Within 3 months, the NICICO extracted 15,000 tons of sulfur stone, which is 2.8 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year. So, the company’s sulfur stone production was about 14,600 tons in the same period last year.

According to the report of the NICICO, there are 19 billion tons of copper reserves in Iran. Sarcheshmeh and Sungun are considered the main copper mines in the country.
