BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 30. Iran’s Khuzestan Province in the south-west of the country has increased its non-oil exports by 29 percent in volume, reaching around 12 million tons worth about $3.29 billion, in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2023), Customs Inspector of Khuzestan Province Behrouz Gharabeigi said, Trend reports.
He also said that the value of the province’s non-oil exports dropped by 20 percent compared with the same period last Iranian year.
Gharabeigi added that the main non-oil products that were exported from the province were petrochemical products, agricultural and food products, construction materials, steel, and so on.
The customs official noted that these products were mainly exported to the UAE, Iraq, China, Türkiye, Russia and other countries.
Overall, Iran’s non-oil exports amounted to $24.1 billion and 67.7 million tons in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), showing a 2.62 percent increase in value and a 29 percent decrease in volume from the same period last year.
Iran’s non-oil exports do not include crude oil, mazut, and white oil, which are subject to US sanctions that prevent Iran from exporting them freely. Therefore, Iran has been focusing on increasing its non-oil exports to cope with the economic pressure.
