BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 29. Iran imported about 9.27 million mobile phones worth approximately $1.94 billion in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), Trend reports.
Data from Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) shows that about 8.93 million mobile phones worth approximately $1.74 billion were imported into the country for trade purpose over 8 months.
Meanwhile, 340,000 mobile phones worth around $198 million were imported into the country by citizens in the specified period.
Last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Iran imported more than 14.3 million mobile phones worth approximately $3.22 billion. Of that, about 13.8 million mobile phones worth $2.87 billion were imported for trade purposes, while 550,000 mobile phones worth $346 million were imported by citizens.
Overall, Iran imported 24.7 million tons of goods worth $42.1 billion in the first 8 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023). This is an increase of 12 percent in value and 4 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
Iran’s main import partners in this period were the UAE, China, Türkiye. The main imported items were corn feed, mobile phones, and soybean seeds.
