BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 11. The production of Ilam Gas Refining Company will experience a 50 percent increase with the launch of its second plant, said Shahriar Abbasi, deputy governor of Ilam Province, Trend reports.

Abbasi noted that the construction of the second plant is in progress, with 70 percent of the physical work already completed.

The deputy governor also stated that the second plant will support Ilam Petrochemical Company by increasing the supply of raw materials to it.

The first plant of Ilam Gas Refining Company is already producing various products from the sour gas that it processes. The sour gas is extracted from the Tang-e Bijar gas field, which is located 70 km southwest of Ilam city.

The Tang-e Bijar gas field has a high potential of producing 7 million cubic meters of gas and 7 thousand barrels of gas condensate per day. In the first half of the current Iranian year, which started on March 21, 2023, the field produced a total of 1.07 billion cubic meters of gas.

The products that the first plant of Ilam Gas Refining Company produces include 380 tons of ethane, 650 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), 3,300 barrels of gas condensate, 5 million cubic meters of natural gas and 250 tons of sulfur per day.

The first plant also serves other purposes, such as providing natural gas to Ilam province, enhancing the pressure of the gas pipeline in the west of the country, and supplying the raw materials of Ilam Petrochemical Company.
