Iran unveils details of fishery export from Khuzestan Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 8. As many as 15,354 tons of fishery products were exported from Iran’s Khuzestan Province, located in the southwest of the country, from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023) until January 7, 2024, Trend reports.

According to data from Iran Fisheries Organization, shrimps accounted for 12,000 tons of the province’s total fishery export.

In the specified period, fishery products from the province were exported to 18 countries, including EU member states, Russia, China and other countries.

Meanwhile, in the first 8 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), Iran exported 132,000 tons of fish and related products worth $234 million.

This is an increase of 6 percent in value and 14 percent in volume compared to the same period last year, when the country exported 116,000 tons of fishery products, worth $221 million.

Last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), the value of fishery export farmed and caught in Khuzestan Province was about 101 trillion rials (about $2.39 billion).

Of this, about 65.7 trillion rials (about $1.56 billion) came from farmed fish and related products, and about 34.9 trillion rials (about $830 million) from caught fish.
