25 NEW BREEDS OF CALVES GOT IN LYANKARAN

Dynamic development in the animal husbandry products is going on in Laynkyaran. During the first half of the year 1670 tons of the cattle and poultry live weight, 10941 tons of milk, 6 272 thousand of eggs, which is more by 202 tons, 864 tons and 242,000 pieces respectively have been produced, as compared to the similar period of 2004, the regions’ Executive power told Trend.

For the improvement of the cattle breeds, works on artificial fertilization using semen of high-productive European breeds, such as Qladston, Svamo, Hudston, are carried out.

As the result of the fertilization measures, taken last year, 25 new breeds of calves with high productivity have been received before July 2005, the live weight of which is 29-35 kg, and which is more in terms of weight, as compared to the calves, received from local cows.

Prophylactic measures are being currently carried out on preventing various kinds of diseases and the sphere is under the constant control of the agrarian department.

In 2005 construction of the milk processing plant in line with the international standards and which means providing jobs for 18-20 thousand families is planned to be completed, to make the livestock-raising sphere in Lyankaran profitable.
