Head of German Eastern Committee to arrive in Baku

“The delegation of the Eastern Committee, which will visit Baku in late November 2005, will be led by Klaus Mangold, the head of the Committee,” Samir Akhundov, the Director General, also the head of the representation of Siemens in Azerbaijan, told Trend in an exclusive interview.

The representatives of the Committee will arrive in Azerbaijan on 23 November and stay here till 24 November. “The guests requested meetings with the Azerbaijani Ministers. The government is currently considering organization of the meeting with several Ministers simultaneously,” the government noted.

The visit of the delegation is planned within the tour of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. The goal of the visit is to intensify expansion of the relations between Germany and Azerbaijan in business. The guests also requested a meeting with the Azerbaijani President through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Over the last 8 months the goods turnover between the two countries comprised $169,614,800, while the import made up $158,852,200, export - $10,762,600. The red ink was $148,089,600. According to the Azerbaijani government, the potential of development of goods turnover is higher. Earlier Mikayil Jabbarov, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, noted that the goods turnover will grow at least by 50% in next two years.
