The Azerdemiryolbank Joint-Stock Commercial Bank started recertification at the Azericard processing center to restore transactions through the center, Azercard told Trend. The bank planned to transmit card transactions to Millicard, the newly founded center under the National Bank of Azerbaijan (NBA).
The certification of the new center in the Visa international payment system was carried out through Azerdemiryolbank. The certification in the MasterCard system was due to be over till late 2005. “Then the cards of Azerdemiryolbank were due to be served at the Millicard center,” Alim Guliyev, the deputy chairman of the Board of NBA, told Trend recently.
Nevertheless, Azerdemiryolbank decided to return to Azericard’s services. The employees of the center explained it with the established system at the center. Besides, three fourth of the Azerdemiryolbank’s cards are served at Azercard.
The number of issuing banks interesting in work with Millicard is small. NBA holds negotiations with five banks on joining the Millicard center, but cash machines of the banks AFBank, Debutbank, Ganjabank and Azerturkbank have been installed and they prepare for card issue.
