Azerbaijans delegation took part in 29th session of CIS Intergovernmental Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification (ICS). Galib Agayev, deputy head of standards department with the State Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan, who took part at the session, told Trend that all CIS countries, except for Georgia, Moldova and Turkmenistan, were participating in the session.
CIS Intergovernmental Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification is purposed for drawing and implementing coordinated policy for standardization, metrology and certification. The Council was established in accordance with В"Convention on coordinated policy in standardization, metrology and certification" dated March 13, 1992.
The session of ISC members is held twice a year in member-countries of the Convention. ISC chairman duties are executed in turn by heads of national agencies for standardization, metrology and certification. Working body of the ISC is Standard Bureau that consists of experts group and regional Information Center.
Over 40 issues regarding certification, standards, regulatory and so were included in the session agenda. In the course of the session, it was also decided to assign Tajikistan chairing the council for a 2-year period.
The council members also examined 150 ISO-based international standards (food industry, metallurgy and so).
Agayev said the next session of the council has been scheduled to May-June 2007.
