Business Materials 4 October 2006 12:27 (UTC +04:00)

In accordance with the research of the World Bank, the period between the court sentences and their implementation is very long in Azerbaijan compared to East Europe Countries and the CIS. The World Bank Country Manager, Gregory T. Jedrzejczak, said the World Bank has agreed to assist Azerbaijan to eliminate the gap, Trend reports.

Every year 45,000 - 50,000 sentences are issued in Azerbaijan on civil disputes, while only 8 -10% made an appeal against the court's decision.

Azer Jafarov, the head of Organization & Analytical Department of the Justice Ministry, said that at present the annual execution of court sentences in Azerbaijan comprises 92%.

It is not a poor figure, but the 8% is of some concern. However, in comparison to former Soviet countries this can be regarded as a good indicator, Jafarov noted.
