Honda to increase Civic production in North America

(autoinsidernews) - Honda Motor announced yesterday that it is set to increase North American Civic production by up to 60,000 units annually. Honda will rearrange manufacturing at its flexible assembly plants. Early next year, Honda will move production of its Pilot from its Alliston, Ontario plant to its Lincoln, Alabama plant, which will make that plant the sole source of Pilot and Odyssey models, reports Trend.

Starting in April 2007, Honda will add production of the Civic Sedan to Honda's Plant 2 in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. This is the first time a car will be produced at that plany, which has produced only light truck models since opening in fall 1998. The plant's current production capacity of 390,000 units will be unchanged by the Civic production shift.

Currently, Honda builds Civic models at two North American plants - the East Liberty Plant and the Alliston Plant 1. And over the past few months, both plants have added overtime production in an effort to meet customer demand.
