The Azerbaijani Government waits to receive the consent of the World Bank (WB) for financing the reconstruction of the Kurdamir-Ujar highway through the credit totaling $200 mln, the Head of the Technical Assistance and Grants Department of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, Nail Fataliyev, informed Trend.
The WB Regional Director for South Caucasus Donna Douset-Koyrlo expressed consent and we forwarded an official appeal to the Bank. The Government asked for $70 mln, Fataliyev said.
It is intended to finance the project at the expense of these finances. A new agreement is not intended to be signed because these finances will be allocated from the credit allocated for Azerbaijan.
Directly we may attract consultants and announce tenders for the implementation of the construction work, Fataliyev said. The $200 mln credit has been intended for the expansion of Alat-Masalli highway, as well as repair of Baku-Shamakhi-Mugan road. Since the project has not been fully prepared, the credit remains free. The Kurdamir-Ujar road is 46,2 km in length.
