Jaguar to add second supercharged XF

(autoinsidernews) - Jaguar is pulling out all the stops for its forthcoming XF sedan. Inspired by the C-XF Concept that was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, the Jaguar XF will feature not one, but two supercharged engines.

The engine in the high-performance S-Type R вЂ" 4.2L V8 producing 420-hp вЂ" will not longer be used in the R' version, but will be the top engine for the standard XF line, reports Trend.

According to Autocar, when the R' version вЂ" likely to be called the XF-R вЂ" returns to the lineup in 2010, it will be powered by an all-new supercharged 5.0L V8 featuring direct injection. Expect the supercharged 5.0L to develop at least 500-hp to compete head-to-head with the Audi S6 and RS6, BMW M5, and Mercedes C63 AMG.
