Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr. I. Khalilova / The Azerbaijan Cabinet of Ministers approved the State Programme for Financing Arrangements on Disabled Persons' Social Protection for 2007, a government source told Trend. It is estimated that AZN 19,164,500 has been made available for the programme.
The arrangements of the State Programme are divided into five blocks. Regarding protecting disabled persons's health, the first block proposes providing necessary medicines or programmes for private rehabilitation either in centres for disable persons or abroad, the construction of regional centres in the towns of Khacmaz and Yevlakh, the completion of such a centre in Naftalan, and construction of a children's rehabilitation centre in Nakhchivan. It is proposed that AZN 9,256,900 be spent on these projects.
The second block proposes the organization of sports and physical training events, and information and campaigns raising awareness regarding the challenges the disabled face. Some AZN 1,337,500 will go towards the State Budget to implement these programs, another AZN 430,000 will go to the Organization of Technical and Financial Aid to Disabled Persons, an additional AZN 7,390,000 will finance housing construction in Baku, Khirdalan, Zagatala, Ismayilli, Tovuz, Shamakhy, and Gabala, and another AZN 750,000 will pay for maintenance of the offices and agencies, which are engaged in social protection of the disabled persons.
