Government of Azerbaijan Receives Proposals on Improving Mechanism of Providing Addressed Social Aid

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend Sh.Alizade / The Head of the Addressed Social Aid Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Azerbaijan, Natig Gasimov, said on 13 April that amendments will be made to the rules of providing addressed social aid. According to Mr. Gasimov, the amendments have been directed towards improving the mechanism of providing addressed social aid.

"The Cabinet of Ministers has already confirmed the proposals on amendments. Presently signatures are collected at various ministries regarding the issue. Probably the issue will be resolved at the end of next week," Mr. Gasimov said. It is proposed that the addressed aid should be given to citizens with loans. However, the loans should be limited. Earlier the families who have one cow and five sheep were not given addressed aid. Presently it is intended to take this issue into consideration. Instead, the profits from farming will be taken into consideration. The restrictions imposed on the profits of the families involved in trade over the last 6 months will be replaced with a living minimum.

If changes have occurred in the profits of the families over the recent 6 months, the addressed social aid has been terminated.

Presently 55,000 families receive addressed social aid. According to the average accounts, the amount of the social aid for one family totals AZN 66.08 and per capita - AZN 14.48.
