Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr A. Ismayilova / Azerbaijan and Qatar have agreed to establish a joint business-council. The agreement was signed in Baku on 28 August during an official visit of Qatar's Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa al Tani to Azerbaijan.
A Memorandum Of Understanding was signed between Azerbaijan and Qatar's Chambers of Commerce & Industry. The sides concluded an inter-governmental agreement on air transportation and an agreement on the prevention of double taxation and tax evasion. The Governments of the two countries also signed an intern-governmental agreement on the protection of mutual investments.
The documents were signed following today's meeting between the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa al Tani. They discussed prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Qatar.
The Sheik's visit agenda included familiarization of Azerbaijani economics and sightseeing.
The visit was in return to the official visit of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Qatar in 2004.
