Russia Constructs Five New Tankers for Palmali

Azerbaijan, Baku, 1 March / Trend / The Russian Krasnoe Sormovo plant commenced construction of 'New Armada' tankers for the Palmali shipping company, the group of companies Sea and Oil-Gas Projects reported.

The project envisages construction of tankers with the deadweight of 6,400 tons.

The contract on construction of the first 5 tankers was signed in February 2007. The construction of the first tanker began in May 2007, and of the remaining four in June. The tankers are expected to be given to the customer in 2008.

The new tankers have stronger capacities and larger deadweight. They completely correspond with the international standards for transportation of vegetable oil.

The length of a vessel is 139.95m, width - 16.60m, height of the board - 6m, deadweight in the sea - some 7,000 tons, in river - 4,700 tons, power of the main engine - 2х1,200 KW, speed - 10.5 knots.
