SOCAR to Increase Oil Production up to 1mln tons in Large Field

Trend E.Ismaylov / This year oil production in Azerbaijani field of Neft Dashlari ('Oil Stones') is projected to average 955,000 or 1mln tons, said the Head of Oil and Gas Production Unit 'Neft Dashlari' of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Mammad Agayev. In 2007 942,300 tons of oil was produced in the field.

According to him, currently a new platform 2415 is being installed in the field and oil will be produced within six months. The platform was designed to support stable oil production in the field. Some 12 wells will be drilled through this platform.

The production volume is planned to be increased up to 1.2mln by the end of next year within the 2008-2010 production increase program in the field, Agayev said. According to estimates by the geologists of SOCAR, the oil reserves in the field of Neft Dashlari totals 30mln tons. SOCAR will drill 78 new wells and establish new platform to increase oil production in the field by 2010.

Two platforms were put into operation in the field of Neft Dashlari over recent years. One of them, platform 1887 designed for 36 wells, is comprised of five blocks. The second platform 2387 was designed for 12 wells. Intensive drilling commenced through this platform and 11 new wells have already been put into operation.
