Blast at Transformer Station in Baku not Affect Electricity Supply

Azerbaijan, Baku, 23 August / Trend corr. E.Ismayilov / The blast at the transformer station on 22 August in Khatai District of Baku did not influence on supplying close buildings with electricity, Bakielektrikshabaka Opne Joint Stock Company (OJSC), said on 23 August.

"The blast at the transformer station did not influence on supplying close properties with electricity," the OJSC said.

The explosion took place when employee of Bakielektrikshabaka opened the door to change transformers. Change of transformer at the station should be realized within the framework of the program to increase capacity and to prepare for autumn and winter season.

On 22 August, blast took place at the electric transformer station behind School 138, located in Mazahir Rustamov Street 3. Kamal Bayramov and Elmar Ismayilov, employees of Khatai District Department of Bakielektrikshabaka, died and three people injured as a result of the blast. One of injured people -Jasur Mammadov, 57-year old resident of Nizami District, was taken to the Medical Clinic Centre with shrapnel wound diagnosis.

Employees of law enforcement agencies began investigations at the scene of incident.

According to Bakielektrikshabaka, it will be possible to change transformer within the framework of preparations for autumn and winter season after completion of investigations by law enforcement bodies.
