Announced Kazakh Oil Consumption to Transport via Azerbaijani Terminal in Kulevi

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 December / Trend , corr. E.Ismaylov /Some 4mln tons of oil from the Kasakh field of Tengiz will be transported via the Georgian Black Sea oil terminal of Kulevi, which is owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), in 2009, a source from the terminal said.

American ChevronTexaco company started transporting the oil from Kazakh field of Tengiz via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC).

According to the conditions of the agreement, the Tengiz oil will be transported via BTC and railway to the Georgian ports (Kulevi and Batumi), high-ranking representative of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) said formerly

In October, the transport consumption via the terminal made up 280,000 tons and the index is expected tat the same ratio in November that is demonstrated the influence of the global financial crisis.

The terminal of Kulevi was put into operation in May. The transportation of oil products via the terminal was launched in June. Since the operating of the terminal a total of 1mln tons of oil and oil products have been trans-shipped.

The total power of the trans-shipment of terminal is 10mln tons of fuel oil loads per year, including three million tons of oil, three million tons of diesel fuel and four million tons of petroleum residue. It simultaneously can accept to 168 tank cars. The total volume of the tank farm is 320,000 cu meters. Port can contain the tankers with a weight of up to 100,000 tons, which makes project economically rational. For two years the capacity of terminal it is planned to increase to 15-20mln tons.
