Energy Ministry of Georgia and SOCAR Energy Georgia to Sign Agreement on Gasification of Samtskhe-Jhavakheti Region

Georgia, Tbilisi, 8 Dec /corr. Trend N.Kirtskhalia / By 20 Dec, the Energy Ministry of Georgia plans to conclude an agreement with the SOCAR Energy Georgia on gasification of Samtskhe-Jhavakheti region. The Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri said during special meeting of the energy commission under the President of Georgia on 8 Dec that 30 gas distributors will be transferred to SOCAR Energy Georgia for this purpose.

"Technical questions have been coordinated, and it has left only to sign the finally agreed document," he said.At the meeting, the President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili heard the readiness of the country for the winter period. He expressed satisfaction with the work done by the Ministry of Energy. "Now the front line in Georgia falls on the Ministry of Energy. This is the most important part of our life, and the State will render entire necessary assistance to power engineers," he stated.

The Prime Minister of Georgia Grigol Mgaloblishvili said that signing with Baku a five-year agreement on supply of Azerbaijan gas assumes great significance to ensure uninterrupted power supply of the country. "This occurred for the first time and had enormous importance for us," said Mgaloblishvili.This agreement, signed on 14 Nov in Baku, will create possibility for the dynamism of SOCAR in the Georgian gas market for the next five years, starting from 2009.
