Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 6 / Trend /

In January 2009, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic) exported nearly 287,100 tons of light oil, produced from Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields (ACG), via western Baku-Supsa pipeline, SOCAR marketing and economic operations department said.

In total, 407,100 tons of oil were exported via this pipeline in 2008. In 2007 oil was not transported via this direction due to the repair work on pipeline.

Operator of Baku-Supsa pipeline is BP Company. Oil transportation via this pipeline was re-established in the beginning of November 2008.

The pipeline was put into repair at the end of 2006. In mid 2008 the pipeline started to be filled up with oil, but the process was stopped due to the Georgian-Ossetian conflict.

In January SOCAR did not export oil via railway through Georgian Port of Batumi. In total, 326,030 tons of oil from ACG were exported via this route as compared to 221,200 tons in 2007.
