SOCAR Energy Georgia forecasts Azerbaijani oil-related export figures to Georgia in 2009

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to export over 400,000 tons of oil-related products to Georgia in 2009, SOCAR Energy Georgia head Mahir Mammadov said.

A total o f400,000 tons of Azerbaijani oil-related products were exported to Georgia in 2008.

"This is a large figure. We hope to maintain or even increase this amount in 2009," Mammadov added.

Azerbaijani oil-related products account for 50-60 percent of the Georgian market.

"Roughly 45 percent of the exports are petrol and 45 percent - diesel fuel. The remaining 10 percent is liquefied gas and aviation kerosene," Mammadov said.

The Azerbaijani Oil Refinery produced roughly 7.35 million tons of oil in 2008.

Oil products are manufactured at two oil refineries in Baku with a total capacity of 20 million tons per year. Both plants are owned by SOCAR, which manufactures roughly 6 million tons of oil per day from offshore and onshore fields.
