Georgia to host the 8th Georgian International Conference on Oil and Gas, Energy and Infrastructure

Georgia's leading oil and gas conference and showcase, GIOGIE, will take place for the eighth time on April 2-3, 2009 in the Sheraton Metechi Palace Hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The GIOGIE conference has become a regular meeting place for all those interested in Georgia's energy sector. The event is officially supported by the Ministry of Energy of Georgia, the Ministry of Economic Development of Georgia and the Georgian Oil & Gas Corporation. The leading sponsor of the conference is SOCAR Energy and other sponsors include BP, Cross Caspian Oil & Gas Logistics LLC, SEACOR and Batumi Oil Terminal.

This year's conference is expected to attract 200 delegates from 10 countries, who will be able to listen to presentations from 30 high-ranking speakers from Georgia, Azerbaijan, Norway, UK, Serbia, Turkey, etc. Many companies will also present their latest products and regional projects in the showcase. Topics to be discussed include the latest explorations in the oil, gas and energy sectors in Georgia, encouraging western investment into additional transportation channels, linking the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline to Turkmen and Kazakh gas by developing a Trans-Caspian gas pipeline, modifying the natural gas supply to Western Europe, the Turkey-Greece and Greece-Italy pipelines, etc.
