Turkmenistan to participate in Prague energy summit

Turkmenistan's delegation to be led by the Vice Prime Minister Tachberdi Tagiyev will participate in the energy conference "South Direction" in Prague on May 8.

The delegation includes Turkmengaz state concern director Baymurad Khojamuhammedov and State Agency for Management and Use of Hydrocarbon Resources under President Yagishgeldi Kakayev.

Czech Republic, which holds EU chairmanship, vigorously moves ahead Nabucco gas pipeline project which will supply natural gas from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to Europe. President Berdimuhammedov debated energy cooperation with Czech Vice Prime Minister Alexander Vondra as a part of the energy conference in Ashgabat.

Turkmenistan, as a key supplier in the Caspian region, exported great part of the gas to Russia until recently. The gas supply was suspended for the time being following April 9 accident at a section of Central Asia-Center gas pipeline.
