This week, the U.S. President Barack Obama announced his intention to appoint Richard Newell the Head of the Energy Information Administration of the USA, the White House reported.
Richard Newell's position as new Head of EIA must be approved by the U.S. Senate.
Richard G. Newell is the Gendell Associate Professor of Energy and Environmental Economics at the Nicholas School of the Environment, Duke University. He served previously as the Senior Economist for energy and environment on the President's Council of Economic Advisers.Formerly, EIA was headed by Guy Caruso, who had held the post since February 2002.
State Energy Information Administration is a statistical agency of the U.S. Department of Energy, established by Congress in 1977.
