In January-April 2009, Azerbaijan received about 628 million cubic metre of gas from Shah Deniz field. The figure totaled 736 million cubic metre in the same period of 2008.
Some 218 million cubic metre of gas accounted for the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) in the Shah Deniz field project, and the rest 410 million cubic metre were purchased by the company.
Four wells re being operated on the field. The daily capacity of the field is 21-22 million cubic metre of gas.
The contract on development of off-shore Shah Deniz field was signed on 4 June 1996. Shah Deniz participating interests are: ВР (operator - 25.5%), StatoilHydro (25.5%), SOCAR (10%), LukAgip (10%), NICO (10%), Total (10%), and TPAO (9%).
Gas production from the field began in December 2006. Gas is transported to Georgia and Turkey through the South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzrum).About 8 billion metre of gas will be produced within the Phase-1 project to develop the Shah Deniz field in 2009.
Production will be increased to 20 billion cubic meters during the second stage to commence after 2014.
