Largest gas pipeline opened in Iran

On Wednesday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended the opening of the first phase of the pipeline, combining the northern and north-east regions of the country, the IRNA reported.

During his visit to Semnan province, Ahmadinejad visited a gas station in the city of Semnan CGS and attended the opening of the first phase of the northern and north-eastern pipeline.

The length of the pipeline is 525 km. Roughly $600 million had been invested to the project. A total of 60 million cubic meters of gas will be transported via the pipeline per day.

The pipeline passes through the cities of Tehran Garmsar, Semnan, Shahroudi and to the region Meyyama

The aim of the project is to transport gas processed in Tehran to the northern and north-eastern regions of Iran. The pipeline will provide gas to the province of Semnan, Gyulistan, Mazandaran and the southern zone of the province of Khorasan.
