Iran's Oil Minister Gholam-Hossein Nozari says the country has reached self-sufficiency in producing oil and gas pipelines and its output hit a record high, Press TV reported.
Nozari noted that the oil and gas-rich county invested 66 million dollars in pipeline producing sector during the past four years to meet its domestic demand.
"Since 2005 we have not held any international tender for purchase of pipeline," Nozari said.
Iran has the second largest gas reserves in the world after Russia and the second largest petroleum reserves in the world after Saudi Arabia.
The minister noted that some 45,000 kilometers of pipelines have been laid across the country to transit gas and oil to the cities and villages.
Nozari says near 87 percent of urban areas and 30 percent of rural regions have access to gas in the country.
The country plans to increase the figures to 90 percent and 40 percent respectively in cities and villages, he said.
