Georgian National Communications Commission imposed a fine to the amount of 500,000 lari ($ 1 = 1.68 lari) towards Russia's TV company Channel One. According to Georgian National Communications Commission, it is the second fine for the period from October 2008. Channel One was fined 50,000 lari.
This decision was made for broadcasting on the territory of Abkhazia and South Ossetia without corresponding permission. If there is a similar case, Georgian National Communications Commission is empowered to fine the Channel One for 1 million lari.
Georgian National Communications Commission fined Russian TV companies, including REN TV, NTV, TV-Center, "Russia" and "Culture" for 50,000 lari each for a similar violation on August 27.
