Kazakhstan is rich not only with oil and gas, but also uranium, Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel B. Poneman told Trend special correspondent.

"We understand the important role of resources in Kazakhstan as a major supplier of oil and gas to world energy markets. Indeed, over the next 10 years, Kazakhstan is expected to become one of the three largest oil-producing countries, which are not part of OPEC," said Poneman.

According to Deputy Secretary of Energy, the welfare and security of the United States, Kazakhstan and all world greatly depends on energy.

He stated that the United States and Kazakhstan support close economic ties, which strengthened after the rating of Kazakhstan reached an investment level.

"In 2008, almost 11 percent of the total flow of direct investment into Kazakhstan accounted for investment of the U.S. companies," said Poneman.

He noted that in addition to oil and gas reserves, Kazakhstan is also rich with uranium resources.

"This has increased the activities of Kazakhstan to develop its own potential energy of the peaceful atom," said Poneman.

He believes that cooperation can strengthen economic development and ensure the security of both countries.
