SOCAR reduces oil export via Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline

SOCAR in January-May exported 878,000 tons from the northern pipeline Baku-Novorossiysk compared to about one million tons in January-May 2009, the report said.

In May about 294.300 tons were exported via this pipeline compared to 224.200 tons during the same period in 2009.

SOCAR exported about 2,5 million tons via the Baku-Novorossiysk in 2009 compared to 1.2 million tons in 2008. In 2007, about 1.2 million tons of oil was exported. It is similar with 2006. In 2005, export via Baku - Novorossiysk amounted to 1.6 million tons.

SOCAR transships oil produced in its own fields through Novorossiysk, as well as oil of joint ventures and companies operating on onshore fields.

Today while transporting of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk, Azerbaijan receives Urals oil for mixing with the oil of other producers.

The operator of the pipeline Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline before the end of 2007 was the AIOC.
