Turkmen Finance Minister Annamuhamed Gochiyev was authorized to sign the financial agreement for technical cooperation with the European Commission on the Turkmen side.

The agreement applies to the regional "Program of stable energy for Central Asia: Renewable Energy Sources - energy efficiency (RES-EE)".

Gochiyev is the national coordinator of EU on the international technical assistance from the Turkmen government. The corresponding order was signed by President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov.

Turkmenistan develops a draft law on use of the alternative and renewable sources of energy and the amendments that aim to reduce irrational energy consumption. The UN Development Programme (UNDP) with support from the British Embassy promotes the draft law.

Ashgabat formed an interagency working group among the key structures of the Turkmen energy sector on improvement of energy-saving techniques and the use of alternative energy sources on the basis of international practice, experience and standards.
