Baku refinery increases depth of processing

The Baku Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev processed about 4.4 million tons of crude oil and products of primary processing in January-September, which is more by 203,700 tons compared to the same period of 2009, the Sate Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), which owns the refinery, reported.

Of the total volume of raw material processed at the refinery about 3.4 million tons fell to oil and about 1.01 million - products of primary processing delivered from the Azneftyag refinery.

During the report period, the depth of processing at the Heydar Aliyev refinery amounted to 91.44 percent or 1.64 percent higher than the same period of 2009. The refinery increased motor gasoline production by 1.2 percent, kerosene and diesel oil production- by 7.8 percent and liquefied gas production - by 30.2 percent.

Azerbaijan process oil at two Baku refineries with total capacity of 20 million tons of oil per year. Both refineries enter SOCAR, which annually processes more than six to seven million tons of oil from offshore and onshore fields independently.

In 2010, SOCAR plans to process 6.15 million tons of oil at two Baku refineries. In 2009, the Baku refineries processed 6.03 million tons of oil compared to 7.35 million tons in 2008.
