Committee: Azerbaijan increases oil and gas production

Azerbaijan produced 50.83 million tons of oil and condensate in 2010, which is 0.9 percent more than in 2009, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee reported.

Azerbaijan produced 50.83 million tons of oil and condensate in 2010, which is 0.9 percent more than in 2009, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee reported.

The majority of oil production last year fell to the non-state sector and in particular to the Azerbaijani International Operating Company and the Shah Deniz consortium, which extracted 43.61 million tons of oil and condensate on the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli offshore bloc of fields and the Shah Deniz gas field. The figure is 1.1 percent more than in 2009.

Gas production in Azerbaijan in 2010 amounted to 26.23 billion cubic meters, which is 11.2 percent more than in 2009. Some 16.67 billion cubic meters of the total amount of gas produced in the country fell to tank gas, which is 2.1 percent more than in 2009. Over 6.3 billion cubic meters of tank gas fell to the public sector, and about 10.33 billion fell to gas produced jointly with foreign companies.

Azerbaijan produced 18.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2010, which is 2.5 percent less than in 2009.
