Iran to increase the production level of Hengam Oil Field

Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) Managing Director Mahmoud Zirakchianzadeh said at present in average over 16,000 barrels a day of crude is produced from Hengam Oil Field adding that the production level from this field will increase to 30,000 bpd by next spring, National Iranian Oil Company reported.

"Technical and seismic studies as well as exploration activities in this field have started," Zirakchianzadeh said.

"Drilling of two wells has been completed so far, and the third well is being drilled. In order to fulfill the target of production of 30,000 bpd of oil from this oil field, five wells must be drilled," he said.
Zirakchianzadeh said under the present circumstances, installing and operating the second jacket of this oil field is in its final stages, and the third jacket will be installed by March 2011, the official said. "All stages of development of this field are presently on agenda for NIOC," he added.

According to Zirakchianzadeh, the tender for constructing the platforms for Hengam Oil Field will be held in near future.

Hengam Oil Field was discovered in 1975 by drilling one well in the Persian Gulf. In 2006, the second well was drilled and proved the in-place oil reserves of this field to be over 700 million barrels. The joint oil field is located some 45 km from Qeshm Island and on the border line between Iran and Oman.

According to the Iranian Oil Ministry, Iran's oil and gas recoverable reserves 151 billion barrels and 33.1 trillion cubic meters respectively.
