The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to commission a new gas station in the Garadag district in Baku.
Preparatory work is underway to launch the gas station.
"The new station will open in the Garadag district on the 14 kilometer of the Baku-Salyan Highway," the source said.
In total, SOCAR intends to open 26-30 gas stations in Azerbaijan. Investments in the gas station's construction have hit 20 million manat.
SOCAR Petroleum shareholders are SOCAR (51 percent) and the American A.P. International (49 percent). SOCAR Petroleum was registered on Jan. 21, 2008.
At present, SOCAR has more than 60 gas stations in Georgia, and is gradually opening gas stations in Ukraine and Romania.
