Currently there is practically no unrecorded and contraband fuel in Georgian market, which earlier poses damage for both public budget and companies, Vano Mtvralashvili, the chairman of Georgian Oil Products Importers Union, told Trend. He was summing up 2011.

He stressed that this year was important in terms of investments the companies put for sale of oil products. Two major market players in Gori highway built multi-functional complexes.

First of all, construction of multifunctional complexes by SOCAR and Visol companies should be mentioned. These complexes are the first not only in Georgia but in all Caucasus region. Their design and infrastructure keep up with similar centers in Western Europe countries, Mtvralashvili said.

He noted that new filling stations that meet all the parameters of European standards have been built this year in Georgia. Significant investment in this field, were made by Lukoil Georgia, Rompetrol Georgia and Gulf Georgia companies, along with the above mentioned companies, Mtvralashvili said.

According to Mtvralashvili, a worldwide famous Gulf company started to operate on Georgian market and it is quite rapidly expanding its network. Accordingly, it contributes to competition. It is very important for consumers because it is dealt not only with the price of products, but also about the introduction of modern standards of service.

He reminded that new standard for fuel comes into force in Georgia from 2012, according to which, qualitative and economic indicators of the fuel will be significantly improved.
