"With regard to power transmission lines, they were transferred to energy operator - JSC Bakuelektrikshebeke. Earlier many citizens living on the territory of fields, in particular, in Baku, were connected to power grids in the territories of oil-and-gas production departments (OGPD), which finally caused the situation when OGPDs paid for electricity consumed by these citizens, Mr Orujov said.

SOCAR transferred a number of facilities previously owned by the company to several government bodies, as well as operators of electricity and water production and distribution in 2011.

The company also includes the Azneft production association (the companies producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), the Azerkimya industrial association (chemical enterprises) and the Azerigaz industrial association (gas distribution).

SOCAR is the only producer of oil products in the country having two refineries and also owns petrol stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine and Romania. It bought a large network of filling stations in Switzerland last year.
