SOCAR ships over seven million tons of oil in 2011

SOCAR extracted 7.146.5 million tons of oil in its fields in 2011, a statement posted on the official website of SOCAR's Azneft production association said.

According to the report, about 7.115.1 million tons of the total volume of extracted oil was shipped for export and processing at the Heydar Aliyev refineries and at Azerneftyag.

The loss in the oil preparation and transportation by oil and gas departments totalled 31,800 tons compared to the norm of 33,000 tons.

As part of its structure, SOCAR includes the Azneft production association (the companies producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azerkimya industrial association (chemical enterprises) and Azerigaz industrial association (gas distribution).

SOCAR is the only producer of oil products in the country (it has two refineries on its balance sheet) and also owns petrol stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine. SOCAR is co-owner of the largest Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim. The company carries out oil trade in various regions of the world through SOCAR Trading.
