In March 2012, Turkey increased its oil imports by 30.1 per cent compared to the previous month by importing 1.7 million tons of oil, Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority's official website reported on Wednesday.
During the reporting period, the import of diesel fuel rose by 0.7 per cent compared to the previous month amounting to 618,000 tons.
Exports of gasoline from Turkey decreased by 6.3 per cent and amounted to 162,000 tons, the export of aviation fuel fell by 12.6 per cent to 146,000 tons and the export of fuel for ships decreased by 4.9 per cent and amounted to 294,000 tons.
In March the production of oil products in Turkey increased by 21 per cent compared to the previous month and amounted to 1.9 million tons. Production of gasoline and diesel fuel increased by 8.1 per cent and reached 831,000 tons.
Gasoline consumption on the domestic market in Turkey during the reporting period increased by 11.3 per cent, amounting to 139,000 tons, with diesel fuel by 11.9 per cent, amounting to 1.16 million tons.
The average price of gasoline in Turkey in March rose by 3.42 per cent and amounted to 4.54 lira. Average price for diesel fuel fell by 3.41 per cent and amounted to 3.94 lira.
The official exchange rate is 1.797.0 lira to $1 on May 16.
