Three more oil wells discovered in Libya

Three more oil wells with rich oil reserves were discovered in Libya, the National Oil Company said on Monday.

The wells were discovered in the Gadamis field, located 230 kilometres south of the capital Tripoli.

According to the company, the operations will be conducted in the well to specify oil volumes.
Oil production in Libya in August 2012 was 1.6 million barrels per day which is a record index in the period after the revolution in February 2011.

Libya ranks eighth in terms of oil production volume among the 12 member states of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and third in Africa after Nigeria and Angola. Italy is the main importer of Libyan oil, followed by Germany, France and Spain.

Libya's proven oil reserves amount to 47 billion barrels.
