Some $6 billion contributed to modernization of Kazakh oil refineries

The total volume of investments to modernization of 3 Kazakh oil refineries is expected at the level of over $6 billion, head of KazMunaiGas Kazakh national oil and gas company administration Lazzat Kiinov.

"Reconstruction and modernization of Kazakh oil refineries is an important development priority of the field and our company. Realization period of the projects are 2013 -2015," Kiinov noted.

According to the head of administration, the project realization on reconstruction of oil refineries will enable increase in production volumes, reaching 19 million tons oil a year and an average depth of oil processing - from 89 to 90 per cent, reduction of fuel oil production and growth in light oil products, as well as quality increase of gasoline and diesel fuel to the level of Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards.

In addition, due to modernization the average index of Kazakh refinery complexity will increase to reach the world indicator of 10.2.
3 major oil refineries are currently operating in Kazakhstan: Pavlodar oil and chemistry plant, Atiaur refinery and Shimkent refinery.
