The Baku International Sea Trade Port transshipped 1.04 million tons of oil in Jan.-Sep 2012 compared to over 1.27 million tons during the same period of last year, a source in Baku port told Trend on Monday.

The decrease in oil-loading cargo transportation from Central Asia is connected with their redirection to the oil terminal located in Sangachal since 2011.

"According to the totals of 9 months, the oil transportation has fallen by 18 percent.," the source said.

In 2011 the port transhipped 1.74 million tons of oil cargo which is 13 per cent less than in 2010.

The Baku International Sea Trade Port transhipped 1.99 million tons of oil cargo in 2010 which is less by 21 per cent compared to 2009. The downward trend in the port's oil cargo transhipment from Central Asia is due to redirecting part of the volume to Sangachal oil terminal.

In 2009, the Baku Port transhipped 2.5 million tons of oil cargo which is 10 per cent less than in 2008. In total, in 2009 the port transhipped 5.1 million tons of cargo.
