Gas pipeline section constructed by Azerbaijani company in Georgia to undergo state inspection

Energy and Natural Resources Minister of Georgia, Kakha Kaladze, Director General of Oil and Gas Corporation David Tvalabeishvili and representative of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) will familiarise themselves with the project of construction and reconstruction of the main East-West gas pipeline on Friday, the Georgian Energy Ministry told Trend.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister of Georgia, Kakha Kaladze, Director General of Oil and Gas Corporation David Tvalabeishvili and representative of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) will familiarise themselves with the project of construction and reconstruction of the main East-West gas pipeline on Friday, the Georgian Energy Ministry told Trend.

Under the USAID project, work is underway within the second and third phases which envisage the construction of the 29km section Abasha-Senaki and the 47km section Kutaisi-Abasha. Work on the Abasha-Senaki section is being conducted by the Azerbaijani Construction Trust Neftgaztikinti which won the tender. Work began in June 2012 and is expected to be completed by the spring of this year.

The work on the Kutaisi-Abasha section is being conducted by a company, which also won the international tender. The work began in October last year and is expected to be completed in autumn 2013.

The project of reconstruction of the main East-West gas pipeline is a full scale restoration of the gas pipeline system which will ensure reliability and security of the gas supply.
