Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Sept. 5 / Trend H. Hasanov /

It is planned to increase the processing gas volume up to 10 billion cubic meters a year at the gas processing plant in the Caspian Sea town of Kiyanly located in the Balkan region of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said today.

'It is planned to increase the gas processing volume at the plant to 10 billion cubic meters per year in the future', the statement said. 'This will give great opportunities for using the natural resources of Diyarbakir and Ovez fields in the west of the country'.

The gas processing plant is considered one of the leading enterprises of the fuel and energy complex of the country. The natural gas is purified here and prepared for shipment to the foreign market.

The current capacity of the plant allows the processing of five billion cubic meters of fuel per year, obtained from the layers of the Magtymguly deposit adjacent to the sea.

According to a British Petroleum (BP) report, Turkmenistan ranks fourth in terms of natural gas reserves in the world after Russia, Iran and Qatar.
