10,000th ton of uranium mined in Kazakh-Russian joint venture

Kazakh-Russian joint venture company Karatau (South Kazakhstan region), has reached a new milestone in the development of the Budenovskoe-2 field, Kazakhstan's nuclear company Kazatomprom's press service said on Wednesday.

'On September 11, 2013 a commemorative ten-thousandth ton of uranium was mined there since the mine's start-up in 2007', the statement said.

Karatau Company is one of the largest uranium mining companies in Kazakhstan and one of the first in the NAC Kazatomprom JSC possessing the technology to process natural uranium to export quality products directly from the mine.

Karatau Company established in 2005, carries out production activities in the Sozak district of SKR. Karatau is engaged in mining and production of uranium concentrate at the Budenovskoe field on area 2 and is the subject of big business and socially-oriented enterprise.
