Tashkent, Uzbekistan, April 4
By Demir Azizov- Trend:

Uzbekenergo State Joint Stock Company plans to construct the 500 kV high voltage transmission line Syrdarya TPP - Novo- Angren TPP worth $ 87 million in December 2014, a representative of the company told Trend on April 4.

A 130 kilometer transmission line will ensure uninterrupted electricity flows between the eastern and central parts of the country, according to the statement.

The project is financed through a loan from the Chinese Export- Import Bank to the amount of $3 million and Uzbekenergo's own funds.

Chinese Xian Electric Engineering will supply the technical equipment and materials.

Syrdarya TPP is the largest thermal power plant in Central Asia. Its capacity is 3,000 megawatts (10 energy blocks with a capacity of 300 megawatts). The annual volume of electricity supply to the country's united energy system is 13 billion kilowatt hours or 32 percent of the total volume of electricity generated in Uzbekistan.

Currently, Uzbekistan is implementing a project on modernizing the Syrdarya TPP worth $60.2 million. The project involves the reconstruction of two energy blocks (third and fourth ) with a capacity of 300 megawatts. As a result, the total capacity of these units will increase by 50 MW up to 650 MW.

Uzbekenergo completed the first stage of the modernization project of the Novo- Angren thermal power station in Tashkent region in late 2013. It was implemented in parallel with the modernization of the Angren coal mine with a total value of $272.8 million.

It was previously reported that the first - fifth energy blocks of the Novo- Angren thermal power station were transferred to the year-round burning of coal as part of the project. As a result, electricity generation at the station has tripled up to 7.02 billion kilowatt hours.

At present, the installed capacity of the Uzbek power plants is 12,400 megawatts. Up to 90 percent of all electricity is generated by 10 thermal power plants of Uzbekenergo in the country.

The transmission line length is more than 235,000 kilometers, including a 220-500 kV transmission line of 7,500 kilometers.

In 2013, Uzbekistan increased production of electricity by 3.2 percent, up to 54.207 billion kilowatt hours compared to 2012.
