Myratgeldi Meredov was appointed as Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan, according to the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov` s decree.

Myratgeldi Meredov was appointed as Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan, according to the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov` s decree.

The ministry is the government body that provides unified policy in the areas of exploration, field development, gas production, mineral resources, processing and transportation of hydrocarbons, their rational and effective use.

Turkmen Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources develops multivariate gas transportation systems for bringing Turkmen energy resources to world markets.

Furthermore, the ministry coordinates the activities and determines the strategy of the entire oil and gas sector of the country, conducts analysis and expert evaluation of projects, develops long-term plans and programs of the petroleum and chemical industry, and participates in efforts to attract foreign investment in the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth for natural gas reserves in the world, according to the report of the British Petroleum company.

The gas pipelines that are planned to run from Turkmenistan include the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline (through the Caspian Sea and Azerbaijan to Europe) and the Trans-Afghan Pipeline (to Pakistan and India).
