Gas delivery to Iranian power plants up 13.2%

Gas delivery to Iranian power plants increased 13.2 percent during 233 days of current fiscal year, started on March 21.

According to Iran Energy Ministry's latest weekly report, during first seven months and 17 days of current fiscal year some 37.506 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas was supplied to power plants.

During this period, 2.366 billion liters of diesel (-44.3%) as well as 3.513 billion liters of fuel oil (-29.5%) was supplied to power plants.

In total, 175.736 billion kWh of electricity was produced in 233 days, of which 5.845 billion kWh (-3%) was exported. Iran also imported 2.316 billion kWh (+14%) of electricity energy.

Iran added 592 MW of power production to its capacity to reach 73,744 MW during current fiscal year, while an additional 1,700 MW power generation capacity is projected by March 20, 2016.

Housing sector shares 28.8 percent of total electricity consumption in this period, while this figure was 32.4 percent last year. Share of industrial sector in electricity consumption increased from 33.8 percent last year to 36.1 percent in the current year.
